The differences between computers and technology are quite a few. For one, computers are a form of technology that has just recently, in the scope of human technology, came into the picture. Technology is the knowledge and means behind what creates devices like the computer, the ipod, or the smartboard. One can be rather good with computers, but at the same time be technologicaly ignorant. The scope of technology is a vast and unknown world even with all that people have accomplished in it thus far. The computer is just one branch of the scope of technology.
As I read chapter one it seemed to me that a large part of the discussion focused on elementary and middle school education rather than secondary education, and in the classroom the atmosphere and learning structure are quite a bit different once they reach the secondary level. I was trying to consider if in teaching a high school senior class, although I would consider all these points, if the project process would be less strict and detail oriented like it needs to be for younger students?
The information I found from chapter one will be very useful for setting up succesfull projects as a history teacher. Like the example given of Brian, history is a very broad field and it can go very in depth or it can be a light glance over what happened in history. As a teacher, Brian showed that it will be my duty as the teacher to determine how much is necessary for students to know and dig into. It is important for myself as the teacher to not take the material too in depth for what the students should be learning and are capable of learning at their level.
