Chapter Two

Chapter two discusses the importance of strategic thinking in combining technology with subject matter content. Strategic thinking is important because it is vital to consider the best and most effective way to use technology in order to enhance students learning experience. The teacher must strategize in order to provide a project that focuses on the needs of the students while incorporating technology. It is also important to be able to strategize in order to recognize if there are other more efficient technologies that could be incorporated or used rather than the method previously chosen. It is important to strategize in order to make sure that the students are gaining the most out of what they are being taught through the technological tools they are provided with.

After reading this chapter, I was contemplating what would be the most effective forms of technology to incorporate into a history course. Of course research papers involving the internet and possibly power points are an option, but those are bland and unoriginal attempts at incorporating technology; would having students create something like a web page to present to their classmates on a chosen event in history be an effective way of incorporating technology into a history lesson?

All the information from chapter two is something to definitely use for my teaching career. As a history teacher I probably will not deal with calculators, but the concepts of using technology and strategizing for the most effective ways to use technology in the lesson plan will be useful.
